HOW DO CHANGES IN GOODS MOVEMENTS IMPACT DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS?

Principal Investigator:    Dr. Lei Yu

Sponsoring Agency:    Federal Highway Administration DTFH61-02-X-000112

Period:    September 1, 2002 – December 31, 2003

Research Objectives:

The objective of this research is to provide a systematic approach to study the impact of changes in goods movements on disadvantaged groups or minorities. Scientific methods will be developed to collect data needed and develop mathematical models to analyze the impact on disadvantaged populations. The research will provide:

(1)   A scan of existing literature on the measurement and planning for goods movement;

(2)   Data from primary sources based on continued research of examples from the literature scan;

(3)   Developed techniques for determining effects on different populations based on primary research and built based on the continued research; and

(4)   Documentation of the research and applications for potential use in other locations

Research Information

For further information about the research, please contact Dr. Lei Yu by telephone at(713) 313-7282 or by e-mail at yu_lx@tsu.edu.
